Book Report

In school, I did a book report on the book "The Story of Alexander the Great". This book is written by Sofia Zarabouka, a famous Greek Author, it was written in Greek but then translated into English and published. Also, this book has many very colorful and overall nice drawings including the portrait of Alexander the Great as the front cover. I wrote about many things on my book report chart: setting, characters, awards that the book won (or should have) won. This book is about the life of Alexander the Great- where he was born, his childhood, how he chose his horse, how a man murdered his father and he became king and all about his famous conquering of Persia, India and other countries. He was a brilliant tactical leader and never lost a battle, he was even called "Master of Asia". First, he took many men (i think about 10, 000) and set out for Asia instead of his father (who was murdered a little while before). He first fought against Persian King Darius (2 or 3rd) and conquered almost all of Persia. Darius' friends murdered him in his sleep when they thought they lost (they did). In every outpost, he left a garrison to rule it. Next, he conquered Egypt and he built a city which is named after him: Alexandria, he also conquered India and some other countries. He died in Babylon because of a sickness. Overall, he was a brilliant military general (leader), was a smart man and is still known today because he let the people he conquered have their own beliefs and he even changed along the way. (This is a picture of my book report, it is the one on brown paper.)

Summary of the Egypt Game

This is mine and Oguze's summary of the book that we read in literature circles "The Egypt Game"

Summary of "The Egypt Game"

This book is about how a girl named April who came to a large university town in California, how she met her new best friend and how they discovered what would become "The Egypt Game". First, April's mother Dorothea goes on a tour (she's a singer) and sends April to her grandmother (father's mom). Her grandmother lives in a building called "Casa Rosada", April came from Hollywood, and she acts like she is very famous and doesn’t appreciate the people around her and becomes very arrogant, but she then changes. Also, in the same house lives the Ross family, the Rosses have a girl, Melanie (same age as April) and a boy named Marshall (he is 4 but speaks very clearly and is extremely smart). April meets Melanie and they become best friends, they share an interest (all their free time they devote for making up new games) and with Melanie April changes characteristics and now she is more friendly. One day they discover a backyard filled up with interesting old stuff and they start rearranging it and that is how the Egypt Game was born. Soon they come up with a lot of new games and ceremonies, they involve Marshall in them. After some time a new girl comes to Casa Rosada, her family is poor, her father recently died and her name is Elisabeth. Although April and Melanie don't want anyone to join "The Egypt Game", they decide they can accept Elizabeth. Next some terrible things happen in their town, a girl was found murdered in their neighborhood. This sent a wave of terror throughout parents and all outdoor games had to be cancelled. During that period of time the members of the Egypt Game were making costumes (Egyptian costumes) at Casa Rosada. Then came Halloween, and their school organized for the kids to be chaperoned for trick or treating. The Egypt Game decided to visit Egypt, while they were walking Toby and Ken (troublemakers from their school and who would soon be one of their best friends) followed them. They scared them but them even more because they decided to join their game. In conclusion, they came up with a lot of ceremonies and games, found out who the "Professor" was and who was the murderer.
